Mentors
Be a Mentor
“A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you.” Bob Proctor
What is mentoring?
Simply stated, mentoring takes place when a mature, caring adult spends time with an eager individual with similar interests.
Mentoring is proven effective in helping vulnerable children move past their obstacles, avoid their pitfalls and fulfill their potential. It is also helpful for parents to be mentored by someone who can understand their situation and support them when they struggle.
What difference does mentoring make?
Mentored children are more likely to:
- Improve in school.
- Avoid self-destructive activities.
- Gain hope and vision for the future.
How can I become a Mentor?
We strive to find the best mentors for the children and families in our community. Our mentors go through the following five-step process:
- Application
- Four References
- Background Check
- Interview
- Orientation
Our staff looks for those who can best serve the community according to the standards and values needed for quality mentoring.
We not only take care in choosing the right mentor for the right child or parent, we support the mentor, child, and family throughout the mentoring relationship.
